1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using widows.care, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Our platform is a ministry connecting widows with church volunteers, inspired by James 1:27. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.
2. Description of Service
widows.care provides:
- A platform for widows to connect with volunteer helpers from local churches
- Tools for churches to coordinate care for widows in their congregation
- Background check verification for volunteer helpers
- Safety features including visit tracking and church oversight
- Secure messaging between matched users
We are a connecting platform, not an employer. Volunteers are not employees of widows.care. We facilitate connections but do not guarantee the quality, timing, or completion of any services.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Registration
To use our services, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
3.2 Account Types
- Widows: Individuals who have lost a spouse and seek assistance
- Helpers: Volunteers offering practical assistance (must complete background check)
- Church Administrators: Pastors or designated leaders coordinating care
4. Helper Requirements
Volunteers must:
- Complete identity verification and background check through Stripe Identity
- Receive church verification from a registered church leader
- Maintain accurate availability and skill information
- Use the check-in/check-out system for all visits
- Treat all widows with dignity, respect, and appropriate boundaries
- Never solicit donations or accept payment from widows
Background check fees ($10-25) are the responsibility of the helper. This cost covers third-party verification services.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the platform for any illegal purpose
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Provide false or misleading information
- Attempt to exploit or take advantage of vulnerable users
- Use the platform for commercial purposes without authorization
- Share your account credentials with others
- Circumvent any security features
- Scrape data or use automated systems without permission
6. Safety and Conduct
6.1 Visit Safety
All helpers must check in and out of visits using our platform. Church leaders have oversight of visits for members of their congregation. Any concerns about safety should be reported immediately.
6.2 Emergency Alert
Both widows and helpers have access to an emergency alert button during visits. Using this falsely or frivolously may result in account termination.
6.3 Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior, please report it to support@widows.care or use the in-app reporting feature.
7. Church Responsibilities
Registered churches agree to:
- Verify the identity and church membership of helpers they approve
- Provide oversight for volunteer activities
- Maintain appropriate records of care coordination
- Report any concerns about helper conduct
- Keep church registration information current
8. Fees and Donations
- For widows: Always free
- For churches: Free
- For helpers: Background check fee only
- Donations: Optional donations help sustain the ministry
widows.care is funded through kingdominvest.ing and voluntary donations. We never charge widows for services.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
widows.care is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- The availability of helpers for any particular need
- The quality of services provided by volunteers
- Uninterrupted or error-free platform operation
- The accuracy of user-provided information
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, widows.care and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform or services provided through it.
While we implement safety measures including background checks and visit tracking, we cannot guarantee the conduct of individual users. Users interact at their own risk.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless widows.care, its operators, and affiliated churches from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform or violation of these terms.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Fail background check requirements
- Receive multiple complaints from other users
- Engage in fraudulent or deceptive practices
- Remain inactive for extended periods
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.
13. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of widows.care are owned by the ministry and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.
14. Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of significant changes by email.
15. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through mediation before pursuing legal action, in accordance with Matthew 18:15-17.
